SBR O-Ring is a type of rubber commonly used as an alternative to natural rubber (NR). It has a wide range of applications, including tire components, cable coatings, hoses, profiles, porous rubbers, and foams. It is utilized in rubber product technology.
SBR O-Ring is highly elastic, which is why many manufacturers prefer SBR O-Rings over natural O-Rings. Globally, approximately 25 million tons of natural and synthetic O-Rings are sold annually. With the development of emerging economies, the demand for O-Rings continues to grow. SBR exhibits excellent mechanical resistance, particularly to abrasion and tearing. However, it has low resistance to petroleum-based substances, mineral fuels, and atmospheric conditions. It is commonly used in shoe soles and tires.
SBR rubber is generally resistant to:
SBR rubber is not resistant to:
SBR rubber is conductive. It is highly resistant to compression, abrasion, and tearing, and retains its properties even at low temperatures. It has low ozone resistance and can be affected by sunlight. A significant advantage of SBR rubber is its relatively low cost combined with good physicochemical properties.
The properties of SBR rubber include:
A specific type of SBR, NR/SBR, is a blend of natural rubber and synthetic rubber. This blend is used to produce odorless and non-toxic plates, which are approved by PZH for food contact. NR/SBR plates also do not cause contamination.
Vulcanized SBR products are used in various industries. They are typically employed in the production of static, non-flexing seals and gaskets that are resistant to high temperatures. SBR is also used in vibration isolation products such as buffers and shock absorbers. In the automotive industry, it is frequently used in brake systems, washer system seals, engine cooling system seals, and tires. The footwear industry uses SBR for shoe soles. It is also found in transmission belts, damping elements, and vibration isolators. Customers appreciate SBR’s resistance to aging, which gives it an advantage over natural rubber. Since SBR swells and dissolves under the influence of mineral oils, it is not recommended for use in environments with mineral oils. Note: SBR rubber is flammable.
In everyday life, SBR is found in mousepads, anti-slip furniture pads, and double-sided adhesive elements used in postcard production.
The softness of 55 Shore A also means that this O-ring is more prone to extrusion at high pressures, especially if the groove designs are not optimal. This can result in more frequent maintenance and replacement, ultimately increasing costs and downtime. Therefore, the O-ring NBR - 55 Shore A is best suited for low-pressure and less demanding applications, where its flexibility and adaptability can be fully utilized without the mentioned drawbacks.
